Dry Needling
Trigger point dry needling or trigger point therapy helps to improve overall muscle function by releasing tight, restrictive ‘knots’ or ‘trigger points’ in your muscles, increasing blood flow to a muscle, and bringing good healing substances to the treated muscle.
This helps decrease pain and improve muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility. It can often help get rid of tight, painful muscles much quicker than manual therapy alone.
Dry needling is a treatment option that is done in conjunction with massage, exercise, and other physical therapy techniques.
Dr Ariel Esperancilla offers dry needling as a part of her pelvic floor physical therapy sessions. Dry needling can be included as part of a full 55-minute treatment (follow-up) visit or booked as a 30-minute dry needling-only* visit. Dry needling treatment is optional, but you can ask Dr Esperancilla or Dr Shipley if this treatment method might be beneficial for you.
*You must be an established patient at Renew Pelvic Health who has been seen by any provider within the last six months to book the 30-min dry needling focused visit.
